ENG Today's the Finnish Music Day, celebrated on the birthday of composer Jean Sibelius. In 2015, the 150th anniversary of his birth is celebrated all year – here's three tips to do so on a budget:
1) Discover the most important places and moments in the life of Sibelius, download the Path of Sibelius brochure here!
2) Go to the Ateneum Art Museum! An extensive jubilee exhibition that explores the composer's contacts with the art scene of his day,"Sibelius and the World of Art", is open to the public until 22 March 2015.
3) Or join the composer at the table in Finnish Auditorium's new book, "At Jean Sibelius' Table"! "Vicarage's makeshift pudding", or the Finnish version of Eton mess, is one of Recyclie's thrifty favs. The dessert, pictured in the above image, is conjured up of rich whipped cream, lingonberry jam, wheat rusks and small pieces of leftover bread, milk or berry juice (and sugar to taste). – See also Finnish Beloved's brilliant bookmark made with an old alpaca spoon. FIN Tänään on suomalaisen musiikin päivä, jota vietetään säveltäjä Jean Sibeliuksen syntymäpäivänä. Vuonna 2015 hänen syntymänsä 150-vuotispäivää vietetään ympäri vuoden – tässä kolme edullista vinkkiä:
1) Löydä Sibeliuksen elämän tärkeät paikat ja hetket, lataa täältä Sibeliuksen poluilla -esite!
2) Mene Ateneumin taidemuseoon! Laaja juhlanäyttely, joka esittelee säveltäjän yhteyksiä aikansa kuvataiteisiin, Sibelius ja taiteen maailma, on avoinna yleisölle 22. maaliskuuta 2015 saakka.
