ENG There's no Autumn without a post on mushrooms! Last year I was all stoked about the sauce of a handful of mushrooms, and last weekend I took part in a two-day (crash) course on mushrooms at Kalliola Adult Learning Centre.
The second day took us to the Luukki old-growth forest area guided by a passionate mushroom expert Tuomas Lilleberg. Thanks for the valuable lessons, great group and company – I guess I could have written 'mushroom love' in the title... But what's the mushroom in the above photo? Amanita fulva, edible despite its name!
FIN Ei syksyä ilman sienipostausta! Viime vuonna olin liekeissä kastikkeesta, joka syntyy vähistäkin sienistä, ja viime viikonloppuna osallistuin Kalliolan kansalaisopiston kaksipäiväiselle "Sienet tutuksi ja koriin" -kurssille.
Toinen päivä vei meidät Luukin aarnialueelle innostuneen sienikouluttaja Tuomas Lillebergin (Ninjosanto Luonto-opastukset) johdolla. Kiitos arvokkaista opeista, mahtavasta ryhmästä ja seurasta – olisin ehkä voinut kirjoittaa "sienirakkautta" otsikkoon... Mutta mikä onkaan yläkuvan sieni? Ruostekärpässieni (Amanita fulva), joka on nimestään huolimatta syötäväksi sopiva!
Luukki, an old-growth forest area – also termed primary forest, virgin forest, primeval forest, late seral forest, or (in Great Britain) ancient woodland.
Instructor Tuomas Lilleberg in action. (See the blue shopping basket? All the self-respecting mushroom pickers seem to have one, as also Jens Linder and Pelle Holmberg are carrying them in "Sienionni"!)
Hanging moss.
Our merry basket and bucket carrying company. – And below, a refreshment at Hepolampi pond cliffs! Fabulous egg spread in a mason jar and Karelian pies by Annika – what's your secret? And Peruvian Fairtrade coffee in thermos. and muesli cake that I prepared with a Malmgård mansion recipe. (Airam retro thermos, Tre).
Love mushrooms, Finnish forests – and my new thermos, Katja K.
MmM Mushrooms!
